Govt to go big on Songkran,
The Department of Cultural Promotion has joined hands with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and key tourist provinces to promote the traditional way of celebrating the Songkran festival.
The move comes after Songkran was added to a tentative list for recognition as intangible cultural heritage by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco).
Golf is a game that requires precision and accuracy. By mastering the impact factors, you can significantly improve your performance and lower your scores. In particular, ground contact, face contact, and clubface direction are crucial in identifying iron strike problems.
When striking an iron shot, it's essential to hit the ball first and then take a divot after the ball. Striking the ground before the ball can result in a loss of power and accuracy. One exercise that can help you improve your ground contact is ‘the towel drill’. Place a towel before the ball and leave a space of about six inches between the towel and the ball. The objective is to not hit the towel before the ball. Consistent face contact is also crucial, and you can use foot spray or clubface tape to purposely hit different areas on the clubface. Practicing this way will teach you how to calibrate and adjust quicker.
For driver problems, pay close attention to clubface direction and face contact. Hitting the driver with an open or closed clubface can lead to unwanted slices or hooks, so make sure to practice presenting a square clubface to the ball. It's also essential to remember that swing speed and dynamic loft can affect your driver performance. The low point of the driver is just before the ball, which is why pros recommend the feeling of staying behind the ball at impact.

As we enter the hot and humid month of March here in Thailand, it's essential to pay extra attention to our hydration levels, especially during a round of golf. Dehydration can have a significant impact on your game, leading to fatigue, dizziness, and decreased concentration, all of which can negatively affect your swing and decision-making. It's crucial to stay hydrated before, during, and after your round of golf to perform at your best.
One easy way to stay hydrated is by drinking plenty of water, but another refreshing option is to indulge in a fresh coconut after your game at Cool Bar. Coconuts are a natural source of electrolytes, which help replenish the body's fluids and maintain proper hydration levels. So, whether you're an avid golfer or just enjoy a casual game, don't forget to prioritize your hydration this March. And when you finish your round, head to Cool Bar and enjoy a refreshing coconut to replenish and rejuvenate your body.
The red-wattled lapwing (Vanellus indicus) is a fascinating bird species that inhabits Springfield Golf Course. These ground birds are part of the Charadriidae family and are easily recognizable by their loud alarm calls. Their distinctive sounds have earned them the colloquial name of "did-he-do-it" bird, which has become popular among golfers who encounter them during their games. Red-wattled lapwings are often seen in pairs or small groups near water and sometimes form large aggregations during the non-breeding season.
During nesting season, red-wattled lapwings create ground scrapes where they lay three to four camouflaged eggs. Adult birds near the nest will fly around and dive at potential predators while calling noisily to protect their offspring. The chicks hatch with cryptic patterns and immediately follow their parents to feed, hiding in the grass or lying low on the ground when threatened. While lapwings can be hostile towards golfers, there have been no reported incidents of bird attacks at Springfield. As proud members of the Audubon Society, we encourage everyone to take the time to appreciate the wildlife around us, including our feathered friends. Next time you're out on the course, keep an eye out for the red-wattled lapwing and see if you can spot them before they spot you! Their beautiful plumage and fascinating behavior make them a true highlight of the course's biodiversity.
